I'm considering a similar setup, but I've found my NFS performance at this 
point to be a little lacking. (I get about 5MB/s). But my "server" is only a 
1Ghz celeron, although it gets decent disk performance locally (Up to 15MB/s 
sustained writes)... I don't know if the CPU is a bottleneck, or if something 
else is the problem. 
I am also considering putting the TV card into the "server" (mainly for power 
savings, so I don't have to have the server and the mythbox running 24/7), 
and the read speed should be adequate, but any NFS optimisations would help. 
How did you increase your NFS performance?
