[mythtv-users] Database coercion problem

In my MythTV (SVN) with a French TV guide and French menus, I get a lot
of "Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and
(utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation '='".

The database was created using the database/mc.sql script which contains
"ALTER DATABASE mythconverg DEFAULT CHARACTER SET latin1;".

Why isn't the database in utf8? Wouldn't it be more portable accross
countries?
