the mythfrontend compiled and linked against the lirc library:

liblirc_client.so.0 => /usr/lib/liblirc_client.so.0 (0x41b2c000)

the remote works in all cases, just dies after 1 minute of use.  I
just managed to get revision 9579 to work somewhat.  It still fails
after 1 minute of use on a cold boot, but if I just restart the
frontend, it works much longer and hasn't stopped since.  I couldn't
even get that much to work under the other various revisions.
