[mythtv-users] Nova-T DVB and FC4

Hi Phil,

I'm an (almost) total noob to mythTV, but after a few weeks playing with
various configs, I've just finished getting my Nova-T working on FC4.
Happy to help if I can (while its all still fresh in my mind!)

What happens when you try and scan? Some error messages or description
of behaviour would be useful.

In the meantime, here are some of the problems I had (and their
solutions)

(1) If you're getting an error about signal lock, its because you need
to seed some of the values on the scan screen. I'm on the Crystal Palace
transmitter and found that by setting the frequency to 505833330 and the
bandwidth to 8mhz, the card then scanned correctly and found all the
freeview channels.

(2) You need to ensure that the user you are running mythtv-setup under
has access to the dvb device. I'm sure all of the following isn't
necessary, and someone else could tell you how to do it properly, but
in /dev I set full access (chmod 777) to video,
video0, /dvb, /dvb/adapter0, /dvb/adapter0/demux0, /dvb/adapter0/dvr0, /dvb/adapter0/frontend0, and /dvb/adapter0/net0

HTH.

Neil
