Michael,
I experienced the exact same ffwd/rwd problem for a while... I came upon a
fix in the archives that was pretty peculiar, but it does work. Check to see
if your /etc/localtime file is a link or an actual file. If it's a file,
then delete it, link it with the proper file in /usr/share/zoneinfo
directory. Use the following commands:
 rm /etc/localtime
ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/EST5EDT /etc/localtime
obviously substitute the "EST5EDT" with whatever timezone you are actually
in. I haven't been able to find why this works, but it definately does for
me.
As for the commercial skip... I have also noticed some incosistencies in
what is a commercial and what is actual programming as well, and do not
enable skipping anymore.
