Primarily, you'll be missing out on an opportunity to use Jarod's 
most-excellent HOWTO ( http://www.wilsonet.com/mythtv ) and the FC 
install experience.  ;)

So, yes.  It's just a taste/experience thing.  FC with Jarod's HOWTO and 
KnoppMyth are probably the two best ways to get started with MythTV.
