I am running a 600 MHz Gentoo diskless frontend, nfs mount, and it
rocks. Even use it to flag commercials sometimes, and other intensive
usage and no problems. Have a FX5200 and the display is fast and
responsive. No swap, 1 gig of memory and good to go. Only a CPU and
power supply fan and they only spin up to an audiable level when in
heavy usage. Had a TNT video card on my server and that was really
painful to use, changed it out for a FX5200 and it to rocks. Maybe
look at your video card.
