I'm having the same trouble, however I'm using an HD5000 card.
It got better when I recompiled my kernel to use:

CONFIG_HZ_1000=y
CONFIG_HZ=1000
CONFIG_PREEMPT=y
CONFIG_PREEMPT_BKL=y

but, unfortunately, now after about five minutes, the front end crashes.
I also notice that not every station reacts the same.  Some work  
better than others but eventually all fail.
