Myth doesn't necessarily crash without sound, but Myth is very likely to
experience problems (which may even result in crashing) on a system
whose sound is not properly configured. My recommendation is to fix the
sound issue and see if that fixes the playback issue.

Nothing much. That's not an error, just a configuration notice. Don't
worry about it (at least, not at this point).

No. Something else.

Xv is working for Myth, so you've probably just chosen another video
output device for MPlayer.
