Don't think so. That table is by far the largest in my database as well.

I'm not 100% sure on everything it's for either, but I believe it
holds the seektable for the recordings. By emptying the table, I think
you'll find that you won't be able to fastforward or rewind very well.

Having used MythTV for about three years, I had accumulated a little
bit of cruft in my database, including a few orphaned entries in this
table. But they made up a very tiny fraction of the total size of the
table, and since I removed those (many months ago, possibly last year
when I built my dedicated Mythbox) no new orphans have appeared. So I
would say no, there is no bug relating to leaving old entries around.
