[mythtv-users] Is this because bitrate was slightly too low?

I prefer to deinterlace playback on EVERYTHING that I display on my
standard TV, it just makes things look better.  To Hell with the theory
:)

And a bitrate of 6000mbps is quite high if you're talking about MPEG-2,
that shouldn't be an issue.
