this is the issue with using XBMC to watch recordings, in that the recordsing 
uses the channeldatetime format for filenames, if you load your TV directory 
in XBMC you won't know what the recording is.

yea, I don't even want to remember what channel and date a show is on, let 
along the wife (or in my case g/f) factor with that.

there is a MythTV script for XBMC, which with a little work could be updated 
to simplify recorded video playback and get live TV working again.
