You probably have these modules loaded at boot or compiled into the kernel.


Also, why are six copies of Apache running? And six consoles?


Apache will prefork a number of servers at start, 6 is usually the default
and more will start up if the load increases.  6 consoles are defined by
default in most distro's /etc/inittab.
