[mythtv-users] sound delay in fc4, realtek ALC 655 audio

i'm new to both linux and mythtv so bear with me!

i've just built a new machine and installed fedora core 4. i've noticed
that all sound has a slight delay (somewhere between a third and a half
of a second), whether with movie playback or such things as error sounds
from KDM.

i'm using the motherboard's sound circuit which is realtek ALC 655 (the
motherboard is an EQS M56K9-MLF, with 1GB RAM and an athlon 64 3200+
chip). i'm not sure if i'm meant to install official drivers, but then i
wouldn't know where to begin anyway.

any ideas on how to eliminate the sound lag?

thanks
-bart
