I think it should be fine. All recording is done in hardware. The only thing
that can be a problem is the speed of your disks.
For those that wants a better monitoring than top, take a look at nmon. It's
ported to linux (original it was only available for AIX) and gives you a nice
overview of your server (CPU / memory / disks / ...):
