Presuming that the idea is that the 'always-on' box is used to wake the
actual recording backend, then take a look at the gumstix line
gumstix.org (or gumstix.com ). A line of very small single board computers
running linux... will run on 3 1.5V batteries. Have USB ports and the top
unit includes a bluetooth chipset.

And I mean SMALL...
