[mythtv-users] Newbie: A few questions

I decided two weeks ago to build my own MythTV box and I've been working
through all the little details since then. Overall, I'm quite happy. Most of
the time when I think "why doesn't it work like this instead" I find that
there is a setting to do what I want. But here are a few questions that I
haven't been able to figure out...

1) I've been using the IR port on my PVR-150. It worked great with the
Hauppauge remote but then I came to find out (after spending way too much
time on this) that it only understand "RC-5" remotes. I was hoping to use my
TiVo remote for this machine. What is the cheapest way to put in an IR port
that will work with the TiVo remote?

2) I have a PVR-150 and an old WinTV card (bttv drivers). Picture is pretty
bad on the WinTV card even though both tuners are getting the same signal.
Is there anything I can do to try and punch up the signal quality for bttv?

3) There seem to be lots of recording options but one that I really miss
from TiVo is the wishlist option. Yes, I can use regular expressions to
search the guide, but is there a way to get it to record based on patterns?
It has a few options to use the title of the selected program, but that
isn't quite good enough. For example, I want to record the Detroit Pistons'
games. But the title is always "NBA Basketball" or "NBA Playoffs". The
"Pistons" part is always in the description. Can this be done?

4) On the TiVo, it is constantly keeping the ring buffer filled. This is
kinda nice. Is there any option for this in MythTV?

5) I read somewhere that MythTV should be smart about DPMS stuff. It would
be nice if it was at a menu if it could go into powersafe mode (but
obviously I don't want it doing that while it is playing). Is there a way to
do this?

6) The commercial skip features sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. One
that would be nice is if the timeline for the program (the thing at the
bottom that says things like "1:29:22 of 2:59:55" had vertical lines to show
the points that the advance button will jump to. I didn't see anything like
this. As it is now, I just skip ahead but if it say "11:15" for the amount
skipped then I have to go back. It would be nice if I could see this before
hand. It would also be nice if, in the case where the program hasn't been
marked for commercials yet, it the advance button simply reverted to 30
second skip.

7) I've created a couple of recording groups. But I haven't been able to
find a way to organize recorded programs by these groups under "Watch
Recordings".

8) Is there a way to setup multiple transcoding profiles? In other words, it
would be nice if when you say "Transcode" you could specify things like
"LowQuality", "RemoveCommercials", "HighQualityMPEG4", etc. I didn't see
anyway to set such profiles up. Did I miss something?

9) MythMusic doesn't seem to include basic browsing options like "by Genre",
"by Artist", etc? Did I miss something? How do you build playlists in
MythMusic?

10) When I pause, it would be nice if either play or pause caused it to
start again. It is a bit odd that play causes it to mark the position.

Well, that is probably enough for now (although I'm sure I could easily
think of 10 more questions). I apologize in advance if you don't think I've
RTFM but really, I've waded through quite a bit. Thanks for any help.
