I'm not running the system, just as a normal user.

Down to hardware,
my graphics card is a nvidia FX or Gx which ever is newest
my cpu is a semperon
and my motherboard is an AsRock

i would think its h/w based but as it only crashes when i try ff, rw or 
pausing does make me wonder.
