Hi,
This is likely a repost from an old topic. If it is, I
apologize and ask for a link.
I have mythtv 0.17 working great on debian unstable in
32-bit mode. I'm using a bttv card, ati aiw 9000 (not
the aiw part). My capture card is a $20 Hauppauge
wintv go. I'm using debian's patched 2.6.9 & 2.6.10
kernels.
The only piece of software that keeps me from running
debian x86_64 is mythtv - I very much love mythtv. I
have been able to compile it and
mythbackend/mythfrontend runs (gcc-3.4) - I've
compiled it from src @ mythtv.org and using 'apt-get
-b source' from a debian repository.
I will generally get a blank screen when watching live
tv and mythfrontend will stop responding (there is no
unusual information in the backend/frontend logs). At
random, restarting the mythbackend a few times will
allow me to watch live tv. Also, tvtime works great in
x86_64, so I don't think it's a driver issue.
these are my questions:
- is anyone succesfully running the amd64 version
without problem (with a bttv and/or pvr X50 device).
I'm wondering if amd64 mythtv is experimental at this
stage and that I should continue to run 32-bit debian.
- has anyone been able to run a chroot succesfully. I
can run the backend/frontend/mysql this way, but I
have problems problems accessing /dev/video (I can cat
it, but tvtime doesn't work).
any feedback is very much appreciated.
thanks
