[mythtv-users] Dynamic menus in MythTv?

Any way to dynamicall change MythTv menus? 
I've written a trivial C program to query the DVD drive and open the
tray if it's closed, close it if it's open. Then I added a
"Open/Close" menu to MythDVD to execute it. But I'd like to change
that menu to "Close" after I opened it, for example. Ideally, it would
call my program in query-only mode and set menu based on return code.
Any way to do that?
