[mythtv-users] Dual tuners changing channels

I've been using MythTV for a few releases now and I've never been able
to figure out how dual tuners are supposed to behave in live TV.

I've got two tuners with different sources attached to them:

Tuner 1 - Digital Cable set top box
Tuner 2 - Analog Cable (straight feed)

I've got Tuner 2 with a higher priority so that MythTV records (if
possible) standard channels there first, leaving Tuner 1 open for live
TV on the larger list of channels.  However, if nothing is recording on
Tuner 2, the priority (I think) is selecting that tuner first to watch
TV.

Here's the problem.  I can switch tuners manually to get to Tuner 1, but
I thought I read in a few older posts that if I enter a channel, only
available on Tuner 1, it should switch tuners automatically.  Is this
true, or do I have to switch tuners myself?  Scheduled recordings pick
up the appropriate tuner just fine.  So what am I doing wrong?  I'm on
0.18.1 compiled from source.
