[mythtv-users] Mythtv Livetv Black Screen

I have the PVR-350 on a gentoo box with 2.6.9-r1.
Mythfrontend runs, but I get black screen & sound only for a few
seconds. No video at all.
I get a Failed "cdrecord --scanbus" in the mythtv bcakend console.
Does this have anything to do with no live tv pic?
It doesn't sound like it.
Any help at all is appreciated!
I am new to this so please be specific in your help.
I have followed EVERY howto and am stuck.
