The digitization makes it a completely different story, that and their
is a distribution which is an exclusive right to the copyright holder
(notwithstanding fair use exceptions, and afaik, no court has
difinitvely spoken on that question).  Nevertheless, you are likely
right on your last point about likelihood of being discovered.  The
point is, you could get sued and defending yourself is not a cheap
proposition.  As always, usual disclaimers about any legal advice on a
non-legal forum should be taken into account.
