I don't actually run X at 720x480, I run it at 800x600. My PVR-250  
records at 720x480. I tried getting X to work at 720x480 with a special  
modeline and, while it worked, it was pretty glitchy. Here is my  
Monitors section in case you want to try it out:

         Identifier   "TV"
         VendorName   "Monitor Vendor"
         ModelName    "Monitor Model"
