Just a note (I went through this yesterday) that the latest mplayer
ebuild (ok, it's an mplayer "feature", not the ebuild's) changes how
it handles the -ao argument for alsa.  The correct syntax is simply
-ao alsa:foo (where foo is your target of choice).
