Seems like we discussed this issue at least a year ago about using
multiple update utilities and repositories. This was after I mentioned
my previous installation of RedHat 9 getting trashed by using apt for
updates. So here we are a year later and we have the same situation. Yum
and apt are not agreeing on how to do dependencies for Fedora
distributions.

To drive the point home further. I have $9,000 US of hardware sitting
here basically useless; no sound or TV video capabilities because we can
not agree on how to distribute and integrate software. It makes me
consider using Windows and for for those who know me that is pushing me
pretty far to get me to even consider using Windows.

So how do we work our way out of this mess? If I try and use apt-get it
suggests using the "-f" flag and then comes up with a list of half the
rpms on the system to remove. If I try yum it is not able to resolve the
dependencies. If I try and use yum to install yum it also fails on a
missing dependency for /etc/yum.conf.
