[mythtv-users] Slightly OT: Dvico MCE style remote + LIRC?

Tod,
by the sound/s of it, your remote is probably a "MCE" one. Mine
has a sticker on the back labeing it as a "Fusion Remote MCE".... Or...if it
looks like the one in this picture it's a MCE one:

If that's what you have, the stock lirc code WILL NOT WORK for you as-is,
even the 'dvico' driver won't work. You'll have to make code changes and
compile your own version. A couple of different methods have been posted
this last week that work:

1) use Andrew Speer's very simple patch/diff, which modifies the "Linux
Input Layer" driver to work with the dvico MCE.
See : http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2005-August/100300.html

2) use my bigger patch/diff - based on andrew's but it lists a new driver
called "DViCO Fusion Remote MCE" under 'USB Devices', so it doesn't break
existing code. I also included pretty comprehensive instructions for
building/modifying from the CVS version of the code here:
http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2005-August/100371.html

3) Wait a few more days, as I'm currently in discussion with the lead
developer of lirc to get something included in the CVS version of the code.
He's not entirely happy with the patch I provided in (2) - even though it
works, so I'm re-working it and will post it to the lirc/myth lists when
done. Hopefully (if I'm up-to-scratch), this will then just mean
compiling and building the the CVS version of lirc untill the next
'snapshot' at: http://lirc.sourceforge.net/software/snapshots/ or the next
release version.

Good luck,

Buzz.
