Who's doing deinterlace on compress? Does it really do better compression?
My understanding is the major tv compression algorithms all have interlaced
modes which try to make this work.
A good deinterlace also results in a 60fps result, so it has twice the pixel
rate, though of course the scanlines are usually identical from one half of
a frame pair to the next.
