Hi,
Newbie question #2. What is X-Video? How do I get it turned on?
I've gotten MythTV set up. It seems to record. However when I try
to watch recorded videos I just get a black screen and in the terminal
I see messages like this:
***
* Couldn't find Xv support, falling back to non-Xv mode.
* MythTV performance will be much slower since color
* conversion and scaling will be done in software.
* Consider upgrading your video card or X server if
* you would like better performance.
<SNIP>
***
* Your system is not capable of displaying the
* full framerate at 1280x1024 resolution. Frames
* will be skipped in order to keep the audio and
* video in sync.
<SNIP>
You likely won't get any video.
Indeed I do not get video and I don't get sound. I've set up MythTV to
use /dev/vl4/video0 on a Gentoo machine. Is this correct or probably
wrong? I can record from that device at the command line and I get
mpeg video that mplayer can play.
I also tried:
dragonfly ~ # xvinfo
X-Video Extension version 2.2
screen #0
no adaptors present
dragonfly ~ #
Does this mean my graphics adapter cannot do X-Video at all? Is
X-Video totally required for Myth even when mplayer can play the files
just fine?
I'm confused!
thanks in advance,
Mark
