Someone suggested that this would be fixed in 0.18, but I'm still having the issue after the upgrade to 0.18.

I've had exactly this same problem (the backend crash, also noticed the
FF issue but haven't had it happen recently). After using mythweb a for
a few pages it gives me an error that mythbackend is no longer running.
I've had mythbackend running with all logging enabled, but that reveals
nothing. Its difficult to know exactly what kicks it off, before I
thought it was deleting programs from mythweb. If I deleted one program
it was fine but once I tried to delete the second one it informed me
mythbackend wasn't available. Since then I've decide to deal with that
and not delete programs from mythweb. However, earlier tonight I was
just browsing mythweb to check on things since my upgrade to 0.18 and
after about 4 page accesses mythbackend was dead. As I said, there's
nothing indicative in the log file, there aren't any core files that I
can see...so please tell me where I should look for info and I'll
provide whats requested.

Thanks
