What I just did last night was checked out the CVS repository, renamed the
mythtv directory to mythtv-0.18, tared it up (tar -cjvf mythtv-0.18.tar.bz2
mythtv-0.18/), copied the file over to /usr/portage/distfiles, and ran:
ebuild /usr/portage/media-tv/mythtv/mythtv-0.18.ebuild digest
which re-calculated the MD5, and then just emerged it as usual. Of course, I
unmasked the ebuilds in /etc/portage/package.unmask first. Oh, and I also
edited the ebuild before digesting to remote the --disable-mmx flag and i
added --enable-proc-opt to make it use pentium3 instead of pentiumpro arch.
Gentoo throws your custom march and cflags in there anyway, but I wasn't sure
if it would override what the ./configure script threw in there or not.
This isn't much of a hassle and only takes a couple of minutes. And since I
don't update CVS very often, I don't mind doing this instead of using hacked
up CVS ebuilds.
