Back before I got sp-diff audio working I was using the line out of the
sound card and going into the line in of the external amplifier. I also
found that the levels to be quite a bit lower than my other inputs. This
leads me to think that there is a different standard between the two
appliences. Or perhaps an impedance issue. My work-around was to turn up the
mixers to about 90% on the myth box. This was less than perfect as you could
hear some distortion on loud passages which I assume was the line-out amp
hitting the rail. Not sure if your myth box has sp-diff or coax audio out
but if it does, I would recommend that option. Otherwise you might end up
building a little op-amp circuit to boost the signal level.
