[mythtv-users] URC-9960 + Hauppauge WinTV Radio + MythTV

I'm no guru, but I did play around with this stuff a
bit with my URC-6131 remote. My documentation for
this is on my website (http://www.vulturesnest.net),
and reflects information that I gleaned from the
MythTV mailing list archives.

If you want to use the Hauppauge IR receiver, then you
have to use a code that spits out RC-5. I'm only
aware of VCR code 0081 doing that, but it is possible
that there might be others. You'd want to stick to
known RC-5 manufacturers like Marantz or Philips,
though there might be others.

If you're willing to use a homebrew IR receiver (or an
irman), then you can use whatever code you want (i.e.
whichever one gives you the most buttons), and then
create a lircd.conf file yourself (I have also
sucessfully done this). However, I suspect that no
matter which code you choose, you'll end up with some
buttons that don't send a code.

My URC-6131 doesn't have a JP-1 header (though it
could be added), so I found keymover to be the best
solution, especially since there were only a dozen
buttons to program.
