I've had very good luck using ndiswrapper (uses the windows driver on 
Linux) with my laptop and a Broadcom BCM4306 chipset.  As for my 
Mythbox, I switced to an ethernet-802.11g bridge about a year ago after 
having stability issues with the prism 802.11b linux drivers.

No matter which way you go, I wouldn't depend upon a wireless connection 
for watching/recording video over a network.  Some days, I have great 
network performance, others, it's unwatchable.  It does work very 
reliably for music, pictures, mythweb, etc.
