You could also try slimserver.  The server can stream to any client,
and 
you don't need to purchase the hardware to run it.  The nice thing is
you 
can purchase the hardware, then control the hardware from a browser.

You can also stream over ssh, which is great for us that have to work 
for a living being a firewall.
