[mythtv-users] License Question...and Zap2it

My thought (and I'm not a lawyer or anything) is that it's ok to sell
myth boxes so long as you specifically don't configure it with
datadirect. I'd think, though, that it would be perfectly ok to sell
it without, and give the costumer instructions for going to the
datadirect site and signing up themselves. The issue with xmltv is a
lot more debatable.

Anyways, my guess is that the email was not directed at mythtv boxes
at all, and that this was just a general letter they sent out to all
of their costumers. I can imagine, say, a small cable company just
signing up for a personal account like we do, rather than paying,
thinking they'd be under the radar.

Further, I think if you do want to resell the data, you can do just
that. You'd simply contact Zap2it and sign up as a reseller, just as
you'd do as a cable company or something.

The guide data by itself is good but not necessary so long as I can schedule events within a guide type calendar. As a matter of fact, if I could operate in a calendar that segments out slots for channels 1,2,x,x,x,33,35,x,123 in 1/2 hour segments that is all I need. If this calendar were a blank schedule with this dynamic I could operate.
