Well I am not sure if this is the proper way to to do this, but I got
my remote working but having to modprobe the remote modules and lircd
service manually before mythtv works which is unacceptable when you
want the computer to open directly and access only with a remote, so I
added some lines to my rc.local to launch those at startup and with
my MythFrontend starting automatically the remote is available
immediately
<begin /etc/rc.local>
#!/bin/sh
#
# This script will be executed *after* all the other init scripts.
# You can put your own initialization stuff in here if you don't
# want to do the full Sys V style init stuff.
touch /var/lock/subsys/local
/sbin/modprobe lirc_i2c ## probing for kernel module for Hauppauge Remote
/sbin/service lircd start ##starts the lircd service
/usr/bin/mtd --daemon ## added during the configuration so that
mythdvd can automatically rip dvds
<end /etc/rc.local>
I also have kde start irxevent on startup to allow for the remote
actions to be translated to my front end as my remote version doesnt
seem to be directly through mythtv without it
