I've since received another very similar error but with no assert.
Here's the error:

=========================================

QSocketDevice:writeBlock: Invalid socket

<DateTimeStamp> Error Writing stringlist

Remote encoder not responding.

=========================================

This time, the Mouse gets screwed up -- pointer moves but is erratic.
Keyboard works, though.
And I cannot stop the process with a mere ESC (like I could with the
above error)

I can restart the xserver (<Alt-Ctl-Bcksp>) but the mouse is still erratic.

I remember having this problem before, but I didn't log it so I didn't
report it. Oh, and I was running only Xwindows and not any window
environment like KDE or Gnome.

Hope this sheds additional light on the subject.
