[mythtv-users] xawtv / motv show blue, mythtv shows green static

I finally managed to get mythtv up and running on my debian unstable
box, running 2.6.8-1-686-smp kernel, with my (older than pharaoh)
bt848 card, and I can even get TV listings and record shows.

Problem is they're all static! In MythTV, if I go to watch TV, the
twop third, sometimes top two-thirds of the screen is static, lower
portion is green screen. If I go into xawtv or motv (or whatever) it
shows just a blue screen, which makes me think that overlay is not a
problem, but getting channels is. I can't seem to tune any channels on
my tuner! In xawtv and motv, I could select us-cable, and ntsc video
mode, but there was no choice for video input source. My bt848 card
has a composite-in, SVID-in, and of course cable tuner. Any way other
than xawtv / motv to get channels tuned? Is something wrong with my
bttv driver? Any ideas on what I should do to try and fix this
nonsense?
