I'd suggest looking at KnoppMyth, a Knoppix/Debian-based CD that has 
everything you need already. I'm also rather partial to running Myth on 
Fedora Core 2 using Axel Thimm's pre-compiled packages. There are packages 
and automatic dependency resolvers for a number of other distributions too.
