[mythtv-users] PVR 250 79.99 After Rebate @ COMPUSA

I would be very wary about CompUSA rebates. Over the past year and a
half, I have sent in four rebates totalling $230. One was "lost" in
the mail, two more "weren't properly filled out, and the last one went
through. CompUSA owes me $170, and I'm rather pissed at them.

The place they go through (RebatesHQ) provides no way to actually get
in contact with somebody. I managed to find a phone number (long
distance) and stayed on hold for exactly 20 minutes before I just got
disconnected out of nowhere.

I refuse to buy anything from CompUSA that has a rebate on it. The
local manager was of no help whatsoever.

On the other hand, most manufacturer's rebates work out very well.
There are a few retail places too. Circuit City and Fry's have been
very good to me when it comes to sending checks back.

Be wary of CompUSA rebates!! Unless it is a manufacturer MIR, you will
not likely get your money back.
