The CelD is a much better CPU than all the Celerons before it, but
compares badly against the AMD Semprons. Clock for clock a Sempron
smokes a Celeron in price performance. Just check Anandtech.com for
some the articles they've done. The P4 design suffers very badly if
it's starved for memory and cache, which makes the celery a complete dog
before the D and a bad investment compared to a NForce2 and Sempron combo.
The Celeron is also held back by the i845 chipset which they are usually
combined with. It performs like crap compared to a newer i865 or i875
which it can't take advantage of since it's been hobbled at 533MHz and
no dual bank memory on the i845.
