[mythtv-users] Sound issue...

Quick update:

I did get sound working! I did two things:
1) In the updates directory, I renamed msp3400-ivtv.ko to be msp3400.ko.
2) I noticed the files were just readable (no execute bit set) so I did a
"chmod 744 *" in that directory. Not sure if this mattered.

Now I'm chasing down why the X server won't display. )c:

"ivtvdevModuleData" not found - or something like that.

I think we're doing the same thing. I'm using the cable (analog also) as
input to the TV Connector (2nd from the top of the board; 1st is the FM
Radio Connector according to the manual). That should be good for sound
capture. Then I'm using the A/V Output connector to display the image and
deliver sound to the VCR for right now.

However, I do have a sound card plugged in - that isn't used for capture,
right? I'm using the sound card just to verify setup.

$ cat /dev/video0 >/tmp/test.mpg

That should capture sound as well as video from the PVR 350 card -
regardless if I have a sound card hooked up, right? (Crosses fingers.)

I do need to note that I don't have a clue if the msp3400 module we are
supposed to delete has been deleted appropriately. Going from memory, I
have 3 - one in the kernel install directory, which we are directed to
rename so we don't use it. There are 2 in the update directory. I think
they are msp3400.ko and msp3400-ivtv.ko. I suspect I'm using the first one,
since I never renamed the msp3400-ivtv.ko copy. Is there some command that
lists where a loaded module came from? (With /sbin/lsmod or similar
command.)

I hate feeling clueless like this!

Rob,

I have an analog cable system. I have the coaxial cable from my wall
plugged into the female coax connector on the card marked TV (the 2nd
one is not an output; it's an input for an FM antenna).

I then have the 'splitter cable' or whatever you want to call it,
plugged into the card with the svideo/composite/left audio/right audio
connectors on it. I am using three RCA cables, one composite two audio
to go to the TV. I have no issues with the audio output, I am not
using my sound card.
