[mythtv-users] Using the video card without using a TV-Out

Does anyone simply use the video card output to a TV as their only video out
source? I've seen some hints to this, but nothing specific. I've got a 350
working, but never could successfully get X coming out, and the ivtv-fb and
ivtvdev_drv.o generally broke things (X wouldn't start on the fb interface no
matter what I did, nor could I just send myth to :1). Since this will be the
center of a home theater, and since TV looks pretty good at 1280x720 on my
monitor, can I just go this route? I'm putting a pcHDTV in this box in a
month or two (waiting till after christmas to buy it), so I can do both cable
and OTA HD, so why not just use one output and not have to switch the TV all
the time?

However, if there is a good reason not to do this (TV qual suffers, can't get
the modes right?), then I would consider using the Tvout on my NV 5500. I
read somewhere that if I use TwinView (which works, but why bother?) that I
can't use xvmc or xv, so that would be pretty bad as well. Actually, xvmc
doesn't work quite right now, but that's a question for another post when I
get HDTV going if playback suffers.

Thoughts?
