I have another "flavour" of the same question:
my setup is based on the VGA output of an Nvidia MX 440.

If the 350's MPEG2 decoder is an independent piece of hardware
can I tell myth to use it for decoding the videos that are 
going to the VGA output? (And how do I do it?)
