Thanks for the help. It took me an hour but I got it working I used sean's method of: /sbin/depmod -a /sbin/modprobe lirc_i2c /etc/init.d/lircd restart one hint for anyone else that uses this.... do NOT accidently type /etc.init.d/lircd restart it took me almost an hour to figure out I made a typo. Oh well Thanks for the help
