[mythtv-users] Still having problems...

Hello

I have managed to get mythtv up and running and now I can record TV and
play it back. However, I still have a number of issues that I can't
seem to fix:

* When trying to watch videos from the media library, mplayer doesn't
seem to switch the alpha automatically, so MythTV appears to hang in
the "Loading..." screen. If I go to a terminal window and type
"ivtvfbctl /dev/fb0 -alpha -on -globalalpha -localalpha", the video
appears, but I can't control it with the remote, and must kill mplayer
to get back to mythtv.

* If I try to watch an avi file by starting mplayer manually (with
"mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo ivtv movie.avi"), it only displays the
middle part of the frame, the audio and video are unsynchronized and
mplayer complains that my machine is too slow to play video (which it
shouldn't be, it is a 1.1 Ghz Athlon and played the same files just
fine in a former life when it was running Windows). Playing mpg files
captured by the video card in mplayer works fine.

* The sound quality of mp3s played in mplayer is horrible, really tinny
audio and loud clicking sounds every few seconds.

* I started a manual recording and couldn't find any way to stop it.
If I selected "Watch TV", MythTV told me to cancel the recording from
the Delete menu. I went into Manage->Delete Recordings and deleted it
there, but when I went back into "Watch TV" I got the same message. If
I go in to Manage->Schedule->Guide, I can see that the show is being
recorded, but it is no longer available in "Watch Recordings". Is this
a bug or am I just stupid?

Regards,
Eggert Thorlacius
