[mythtv-users] xine and lirc

I am having trouble getting Xine to work with lirc. I have searched the
archive and followed the suggestions, but still no luck.  I checked the
/var/log/lircd file after starting xine and there was no entry for it.  The
strange thing is everything works when I VNC into the box. i.e. the
/var/log/lircd file shows an entry for xine and my remote works fine.
