In terms of additional options, I think a picture would be cool.  Maybe

a link to an external piece of information, to keep it flexible?  I've
got 
a few video recipes that I'd like to remove from general viewing 
(mostly Rachel Ray, Barefoot Contessa and Everyday Italian) and 
link video to a recipe.  I've also got a few pictures for the final
results 
of some other recipes.

My wife also keeps track of what she served when a group of 
people were over.  This way she doesn't serve them the same thing 
in two visits for people.  I'm not sure exactly how to do this, but 
maybe link in another table with the date served and people present.
Right now I just keep track of it in a little spiral notebook.  Yes, it

is incredibly odd, but kinda neat when people realize they get 
something different every time they visit.

PHP and C++.  This should be fun.  Esepcially once I figure out why 
I can't tune my PVR-250 anymore...
