[mythtv-users] Issues with Comcast

Well here are the facts:
I am still using an analog cable feed with an A and B side. The A feed goes
into a 4-way splitter (one to the mythbox, another to my vcr, and another to
the cable box, the final one is currently unused), the B feed goes to the
cable box.
Recently, as in two weeks ago, I lost the ability to tune certain channels,
like CNN, CartoonNetwork, etc through my VCR or mythbox (thus rendering my
mythbox useless). The channels work properly when viewed through my cable
box.
Now I've heard that Comcast might be digitizing the channels to save
bandwidth. If this is the case, why am I able to view to my old cable box?
A few questions:
1.) Should I try using the channel fine tuning in the myth-setup, would that
help at all?
2.) Is there an easier way to access that fine tuning, rather than save the
settings and then run the frontend again.
3.) Will I probably have to go to an IR blaster solution to resolve this?
At this rate, with Comcast offering their own PVR (which sucks from all the
reviews I've read), the very fact that you have to jump through hoops
inorder for one to record something on a schedule.
